Harriet Tunison

Administrator of the Board of Trustees

"Over the years, I have spent a good deal of time raising funds for nonprofits. I know from experience that the staff and volunteers of any group can put forth a tremendous amount of effort on a single event that may bring in only a few thousand dollars. Our members have discovered that they can accomplish the same goal simply by joining the Trust and changing their unemployment program. That's why I like to think of Trust membership as an effortless fundraiser. It's actually an annual fundraiser because members save money year after year."

Harriet Tunison is President of 501(c) Services. Before she began her association with the Trust, she had an extensive career in both the nonprofit sector and public service. She is former director of fiscal and administrative services for the Valley Mountain Regional Center, a nonprofit agency with 220 employees and a $60 million budget. Harriet was previously director of administration for the Fresno Independent Living Center, executive director of the Birth Center of Fresno, and head of budget and management services for Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department and Registrar of Voters for Fresno County.

Harriet has also been an active volunteer with several agencies, serving as president of California's statewide Planned Parenthood affiliates, and as president of the board of directors of Planned Parenthood in Fresno. As a volunteer with Early Start, Harriet served as that organization's representative on California's interagency council, which coordinates children's services. She has also served on the advisory council of the Foster Grandparent Program.
